American Airlines Announces Two New International Routes From Dallas/Fort
Worth International
New Routes to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Guanacaste, Liberia, in Costa Rica
FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 22, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines
announced today it will introduce two new nonstop international routes from its
hub in Dallas/Fort Worth, effective Feb. 3, 2006. The new destinations from DFW
are Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Guanacaste, Liberia, in Costa Rica. They will become
the 34th and 35th nonstop international destinations from DFW flown by American
and its regional airline affiliate, American Eagle.
Subject to government approvals, American will operate the Montego Bay service with
its 142-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The flight will operate Friday, Saturday,
Sunday and Monday. The new service is in addition to American's four other daily
flights to Montego Bay from Miami and New York.
Service to Guanacaste will also be flown with American's 737-800 aircraft, subject
to government approvals. Departures from DFW will operate Wednesday and Saturday
-- return departures from Guanacaste will operate Thursday and Sunday. Additional
connections to Guanacaste are also available through American's Miami hub.
"These new nonstop international services clearly show the economic significance
and benefits of our DFW hub and further strengthen DFW as an international gateway,"
said Dan Garton, American's Executive Vice President of Marketing. "Because American
flies into the hub from many different cities with customers who then connect to
other flights such as these new routes, local Metroplex residents are able to enjoy
the benefits of additional new nonstop international destinations from DFW."
Montego Bay is known for its great shopping, extraordinary food, pristine beaches
and fascinating nightlife. The bay is stunning in its natural beauty, surrounded
by beautiful mountains.
Guanacaste is a natural gateway to northern Pacific beaches and fishing, as well
as nearby resorts and national parks.
